Jacky Blot, Domaine Taille aux Loups, Montlouis
Jacky Blot was originally a wine merchant until 15 years ago when he decided to start making wine instead. He has now acquired 40 hectares of vineyards in the appellations of Montlouis, Vouvray and Bourgeuil and we are delighted to have his wines on the list.
The Montlouis is a bone dry Chenin from 70-80 year old vines. South-facing slopes, hand harvesting and very restricted yields result in a wonderful, concentrated and very impressive wine. The Bourgeuil is equally delicious.
We would also like to draw your attention to Jacky`s incredible pétillant Montlouis: naturally ripe grapes undergo a very slow fermentation resulting in a dry wine with only a hint of residual sugar. There is no dosage whatsoever. The result is a wine of delightful purity and raciness.
